Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Shanhai Myth is operated by [registered business name], [registered business address] ("Shanhai Myth", "we", "us"). These Terms are a legal agreement between you and us. By creating an account, placing an order, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. The service — entertainment, first and always

Shanhai Myth is a digital entertainment experience. The guardian test, all 124 guardians, their stories, attributes and readings, the collectible cards, and the companion chat are works of myth and fiction created to delight. Nothing on the site is medical, legal, or financial advice, and nothing here predicts the future or guarantees any outcome. Please treat everything you experience on Shanhai Myth as entertainment.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Shanhai Myth only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Accounts

• Create an account with a valid email address, and keep your login details safe. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• One account per person. Please do not share, sell, or transfer your account.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, or that we reasonably believe are being used to harm the service or other people.

4. Purchases and payment

Prices are shown in US dollars. Depending on where you are, tax may be added at checkout.

For physical merchandise, import duties and customs fees are prepaid by us — the total shown at checkout is final, with nothing extra to collect on delivery. See Shipping & Returns for details.

Digital items — chat credits and card unlocks — are delivered to your account as soon as payment is confirmed, and are handled by our third-party payment partners.

Physical merchandise in the Spirit Shop is sold as pre-orders: pieces are produced in runs after supplier sampling and quality checks. Merchandise payments are processed by PayPal. We never see or store your full card details.

We may cancel and refund any order if an item becomes unavailable, is mispriced, or fails our quality checks — you will be refunded in full.

5. Refunds and cancellations

For physical merchandise, please see our Shipping & Returns policy (linked at the bottom of this page), which explains the returns window, how to start a return, and how refunds are issued.

For digital items: because credits and card unlocks are delivered instantly, they cannot be returned or exchanged once delivered or used. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law. If something went wrong with a digital purchase, email us and we will make it right.

You can cancel a merchandise order any time before it ships, for a full refund — see Shipping & Returns.

6. Acceptable use

Use Shanhai Myth as intended. In particular, please do not:

• break any law, or use the service to harm or harass anyone;
• scrape, copy, or bulk-download the service or its artwork (see "Our content" below);
• use bots, automation, or exploits to gain cards, credits, or other advantages;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service;
• send unlawful, hateful, or harmful content to the companion chat, or use it to generate such content.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write — for example, messages you send to your companion. To operate the service (generating replies, keeping your chat history, and remembering your preferences between sessions), you give us permission to store and process your content as described in our Privacy Policy.

We do not publish your private messages, and we do not use them for advertising.

8. Our content

All guardians, card art, characters, text, names, logos, and the Shanhai Myth brand are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws.

We grant you a personal, non-commercial licence to enjoy the cards, art, and content inside the service. You are welcome to share screenshots of your own collection for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not redistribute, resell, or use our artwork or content commercially without our written permission.

9. Third-party services

Some parts of the service rely on third parties — signing in with Google or Facebook, payment processing (PayPal for merchandise, our payment partners for digital items), and email delivery. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we share with them, and why.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied — including that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any reading, chat reply, or feature will meet your expectations. Everything on the site is entertainment, as described in Section 2.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of or relating to the service; and our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US$50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

12. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms from time to time — for example, when we add features or when the law changes. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end the service, in whole or in part, including for accounts that violate these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [governing-law jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising from these Terms or the service will be brought before the courts located in [governing-law jurisdiction], unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally — in which case that right is unaffected.
